Obstetrics Department

The Obstetrics Department at Upham’s Corner Health Center is committed to providing patient-centered quality care, choice, and support to our pregnant patients. Our goal is to ensure that pregnant women and new mothers are given patient-centered care that empowers them and helps them feel connected to the care they are receiving and cared for by their providers.

Our team of multicultural, multilingual providers – certified nurse midwives, nurses, physicians – is committed to providing the highest level of care. As a new patient, you will meet with the OB nurse and your hospital midwife, who will help you with all medical and social support needed throughout your pregnancy. They work together to ensure that you receive outstanding prenatal care.

Nutrition and WIC

We want you to be as healthy as possible during pregnancy! You are eating for yourself as well as for your baby. Our nutritionist will meet with you to discuss a healthy diet during pregnancy, but can also help you with tips for managing morning sickness or anemia.

Upham’s also partners with the Dorchester North/Mattapan WIC Program. WIC offers nutrition and health education, healthy food incentives, breastfeeding support and classes and more. WIC is available free of charge for families who qualify.

Support Services

Our multicultural Community Health Advocates – who speak Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Spanish and Vietnamese – are available to support your social and emotional health during pregnancy, connecting you with services available in your community and offering counseling support and programs for infant clothing and car seats.

Hospital Choices for Delivery

It is UCHC’s belief that all of our patients should be able to make choices in their healthcare, and in this case, specifically where to give birth. We’re partnered with Boston Medical Center and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and can help you decide where you would like to deliver. Each hospital provides outstanding labor and delivery services.
