OB Team

The Obstetrics Department at Upham’s Corner Health Center is committed to providing patient-centered quality care, choice, and support to our pregnant patients. Our goal is to ensure that pregnant women and new moms are given patient-centered care that empowers our patients and allows them to feel connected to the care they are receiving, and to feel cared for by their providers.

The Obstetrics Department at Upham’s Corner Health Center is made up of a team of multicultural, multilingual providers who are committed to providing the highest level of care available to their patients. The team is made up of experienced certified nurse midwives, doctors, OB nurses, OB case manager, and medical assistants. When you start as our patient you will connect with the OB nurse, your hospital midwife, and the OB support person. Together, this OB team will help you with all the medical and social support needed throughout your pregnancy. They work together to ensure that you receive outstanding prenatal care.

Patient-Centered Care
While our team focuses on your prenatal care, in the same building as OB our health center staff in the Social Services, Behavioral Health, and Primary Care, Pharmacy, and Laboratory Departments are available to assist you in wrap-around, patient-centered care for any psycho-social or medical needs outside of pregnancy.

Nutrition and WIC
We want you to be as healthy as possible during pregnancy because now you are not only eating for yourself but also for your baby. The UCHC Nutritionist can discuss this more with you so that you know how to make healthy informed decisions while eating for two. Also, we partner with the North Dorchester/Mattapan WIC Program. The WIC program offers nutrition and health education, free/healthy food, breastfeeding support, and more. WIC is available free of charge for families who qualify.

Supportive Services
The OB support person works alongside the Community Health Advocates and are available to support you not only with your pregnancy but your social and emotional health. Our multicultural staff speaks Spanish, Portuguese Creole, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese. We can help connect you with services and resources available in your community. We offer services such as counseling support and resources such as clothing and car seats (available at a very low cost and free with certain health insurances).

Patient Choice
It is UCHC’s belief that all of our patients should be able to make choices in their healthcare, and in this case, specifically prenatal care. We’re partnered with Boston Medical Center and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and can help you decide where you would like to deliver. Each hospital provides outstanding labor and delivery services.
